About Amelia
I have studied biology at A-Level and now degree level. I have a strong grasp of the subject, and have also got A-Level qualifications in English Literature and Psychology (all at a grade A). I have tutored GCSE and pre-GCSE students on AQA courses for The London Education Company. I have a thorough knowledge of course contents (especially for the OCR exam board) and through my own teacher's encouragement, understand the ways in which to succeed in exams.

I am a third year biology undergraduate, looking to give lessons to predominantly GCSE and A-Level students that want mentoring to complement the material learned in their lessons at school.
A typical lesson will involve a review of the topic the student wishes to focus on, including visual aids and video clips that break down the concept. Multiple-choice-style questions may be used throughout to assess areas of strength and weakness, which will determine the focus of subsequent lessons. After a topic is complete, we will work through past exam questions together to apply our knowledge.
I like to teach using resources I have created, such as presentations or interactive online tasks, but also want to encourage students to create their own resources to learn from. As a visual learner and synaesthete, I benefit most from creating bright and colourful revision materials to consolidate information. Therefore, I can best help other visual learners, although I would like to experiment with other teaching methods that are more engaging.

Amelia’s always passionate about whatever she does and that is what would make her a great tutor. She is knowledgable and extremely hard-working and I know this because we both study biology at UCL. If I ever need help Amelia is always open to explain things we’ve learnt in lectures in a simpler and ‘easier to understand’ way.
She’s also very dedicated and organised, and I would highly recommend her as a tutor.I've never seen such dedication to a passion from an individual. Amelia truly cares about her subject, and as a result of her astounding work ethic, has the knowledge and wherewithal to aid any struggling Biology student, be it a problem with memory or a perplexing concept.
She has a creative yet logical mind that has developed revision strategies enviable by all but the most brilliant minds. Her methodical process has aided me (a year above her academically) in my own consolidation, and she will be able to aid you too.Amelia is a hard-working, organised and dedicated student. We study in the same Department of Life Sciences at UCL, known globally for its cutting-edge research, collaboration and teaching.
I've known Amelia for over a year and she is always helpful and approachable. I know the importance of a good role model to lead by example and I have no doubt she would be a great tutor both academically and personally - being able to share her own studying experiences, revision strategies and techniques.View more recommendations

I am happy to teach students at my house in Dunton Village for £20 per hour. Alternatively, I can tutor over Skype for £15 per hour. Online lessons will involve screen sharing prepared slides and use of an online interactive whiteboard. Face-to-face lessons allow me to share my materials for students to make their own resources.
