About Emma
I discovered the love for teaching through my studies at the Purcell School of Music and the Royal College of Music which gave me many opportunities to tour across UK working in outreach programmes, including working with BBC Summer Proms 2015 for orphaned children. Since then I began to teach violin in London privately for all ages and held my own outreach assembly in primary schools.

I am a British-Chinese violinist who graduated from the Royal College of Music. I have been privately teaching violin in London for 5 years and piano for 2 years for all ages.
Good foundation in posture and technique as well as understanding how to practice is important to me. I also concentrate on building skills for sight-reading and including basic music theory skills. Through my teaching I try and help students to develop other life lessons such as self awareness, responsibility, confidence and perseverance as I believe that music gives children an early chance to begin learning these life skills. When I teach adults, I first come from a more logical and theoretical stand point which I find helps them to understand and learn faster, especially when learning new music. Once the music is under their fingers, I let go of the technicalities and explain more about imagination to make the music playing come alive.
I am now currently based in Austria expanding my teaching studio online.
