About Mercedes
A former Cambridge University, Imperial College London graduate with an integrated Masters in Engineering and PhD in Materials. At A-Level I enjoyed studying maths, further maths, chemistry and physics but my interest in applied maths, mechanics, led me to pursue an Engineering degree.
I have been tutoring online and in person since September 2021. I have helped a range of students at different academic levels, from 11+ to A-Level. I acknowledge that every student has different strengths and learning styles, and will adapt each lesson to best suit the students needs.
I hope to help students achieve a greater understanding of their subject by enhancing their skills and developing others.

Everyone has a unique style of learning and exam preparation techniques. I adapt my sessions to suit the student, aiming to enhance positive practices currently adopted and offering further methods and techniques to help students reach their full potential.
By demonstrating problems in practice and emphasising the fundamentals and links between topics, I will help develop a greater understanding with improved practical applicability of subject matter.
Topical Questions and practice exams set periodically after sessions will help to focus discussion, provide opportunities for consolidation, reflection and further clarification. Discussion during lessons will be led by current issues, with time for expansion on topics, and for students to ask further questions.
I will provide a firm base of understanding, so the ability to adapt to any question or situation, whether in an exam or in future study can be achieved.
