About Manogna
I am a Carnegie Mellon graduate with several years of both software engineering and teaching experience. I have previously worked at an SAT test prep center, volunteered as a tutor for middle and high school students in my community, and also taught AP Computer Science at a local high school through a volunteering program. As a college student, I worked as a teaching assistant for all 4 years, and I also privately worked with high school students to help them with English class or college admissions essays. For the last 4 years, I worked as a software engineer at Google. I am currently taking a brief hiatus, and would love to continue my teaching experience via tutoring in any of the above subjects!

I collaborate with my student to form a lesson plan best-suited to their goals. Typically I use a hands-on approach of solving problems or answering essay prompts together, teaching the lesson through practical execution. I have my own curriculum for introduction to computer programming and for English essay writing, but I can also work on an individual lesson-by-lesson basis (e.g. helping a student prepare for a specific test or class assignment). I have also tutored high school students for the SAT and ACT, both in a tutoring center and privately. From this combined experience I've cultivated a unique standardized test prep approach, that focuses on techniques to help students with test anxiety. Overall, I like to strike a balance between ensuring a rich comprehension of subject matter, and teaching techniques that will help students with test performance.
