About Elizabeth
First of all, I love teaching! It's why I've been working with kids since I was 12 years old as a volunteer at the Royal Ontario Museum Saturday morning camp. Since then, I've been a swim instructor, a science camp counsellor at the Ontario Science Centre, as well as an undergraduate teaching assistant.
Secondly, I love science! So much so that I finished a PhD in biology in 2019. Research can be rewarding in its own way, but teaching younger generations about the amazing things the natural world has to offer is incredibly fulfilling to me. It's my personal goal to allow students to improve their understanding of biology so that they can become enthusiastic about life sciences, no matter where their path takes them.

I find pictures are much easier to follow than words, and as someone with both a love for science as well as art, I will be drawing diagrams as I teach you about different biological concepts.
Every student has a different style and pace of learning, and I'll make sure that I check in with you regularly during lessons to make sure that the way I explain things makes sense to you. Never be afraid to stop me and ask for clarification!
A typical lesson plan will begin by setting learning goals for the lesson ahead of time. Will we be learning about the structure of a typical animal cell? What about the function of a specific organelle inside a cell? How about some basic biochemistry? It all depends on what the student needs to learn to excel in their coursework, and I will customize the lesson plan to their specific requirements.
I can teach students anywhere from grade school up until fourth year undergrad.
