About Shannon
I have been playing the cello since 2011 and achieved my Grade 8 through Trinity College London. I play in an all-cello ensemble and in a community orchestra. I also teach cello at a private school in Johannesburg.
I have a passion for teaching and working with my students to achieve their goals and growth on the instrument. I approach challenging concepts and repertoire with patience and a puzzle-solving attitude.

I thoroughly enjoy working with my students to develop their love for the cello. My aim is to make our lessons fun as well as educational. I draw from a number of different resources to ensure that the learning experience is holistic and varied. I also tailor my approach according to my students’ individual needs.
I primarily teach the Trinity College London syllabus but have experience with ABRSM as well. Beginner lessons involve building a strong foundation to cello playing. As the student progresses, this scope broadens to include exam pieces, scales, and technical exercises.
