About Julie Ann
Hi, I’m Julie Ann! I have a Master’s in French, I’m a certified teacher, and I taught for over 15 years in the classroom. I’ve loved languages for as long as I can remember and have lived in France as an exchange student and in Japan teaching English. Because I’ve learned languages myself, I understand the challenges students face. My goal is to make learning structured but fun! When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading, yoga, board games, cooking, spending time with my family and dog, movies and TV, and trivia (especially Survivor trivia!). My most fundamental belief about language learning is that the ultimate goal is communication: can you understand what's being said and make yourself understood? Let’s work together to improve your French!

I love making language learning fun, structured, and rewarding! My students appreciate my humor, storytelling, and varied resources, which make lessons both engaging and purposeful. I specialize in helping beginners and intermediate learners gain confidence through structured practice, real-world materials, and cultural insights. I believe that every lesson should balance support and challenge—I’ll help you move from guided practice to expressing yourself freely. Learning a language should feel exciting, not stressful!
I work with learners of all levels, especially beginners and intermediates who want to improve for school, travel, or personal growth. My lessons are interactive and personalized, focusing on real-world skills, pronunciation, and cultural understanding. I provide structured materials, but I also make sure lessons feel natural and conversational. Whether you need grammar help, speaking practice, or just the confidence to communicate, I’ll adapt my approach to fit your goals. Let’s work together to make your language learning journey enjoyable and effective!

She is an exceptional teacher. As a colleague, I admired her engaging and effective teaching style, which consistently inspired her students. I also taught her former students and was consistently impressed by their preparedness. Her patience, kindness, and deep knowledge of French enable her students to achieve academic excellence.
