About Michelle
I fell in love with the French language when I was a teenager and had the tremendous fortune of being an exchange student in Fountainbleau, France. After that fantastic experience, j’étais mordue! I went on to study French (and a little Spanish and Japanese) in college and then returned to grad school to study Foreign Language Education and to earn my teaching license. I have been sharing my passion for the French language and culture ever since. I have taught all levels of high school French and I'm amazed at my students who can go from "Bonjour, je m'appelle..." to reading Maupassant or Moliere in just four years! Furthermore, I started a travel abroad program and over the years, I have led over 300 students on linguistic and cultural tours of France and other European countries. I would love to help you reach your proficiency goals!

I will tailor my lessons around your needs and your current level of proficiency; but, in general I like to teach thematic lessons (ex - J'ai faim (restaurant conversation), Ressentir et Vivre (expressing personal relationships and feelings), Education et le monde du Travail (Navigating academic and work-place environnements). I believe in teaching all aspects of language acquisition - listening, reading, speaking and writing. I also believe that grammar fundamentals are essential to more creative expression.

* For in person lessons, my rate increases by $5 per every 10 miles for destinations farther than 10 miles from downtown Birmingham.
* I offer special pricing for small group tutoring sessions. Please contact me for further information.
* If you need to cancel a lesson please do so within 24 hours to reschedule for no charge. If you cancel with less than 24 hours before the lesson is scheduled, you will be charged 50% of the original fee ($20 for most clients).
