About Danielle
Hi there! After graduating from the University of Maryland with an Elementary Education degree and certification of PreK-6th grade, I taught kindergarten, first, second, and fifth grade! I've taught in Montgomery County, MD, and Haddonfield, NJ! I have exceptional experience with students whom have behavior, emotional, or academic needs and enrichment. After using many different curriculums, I've found a love for Eureka math which is also aligned with Zearn.org, Fundations (a phonics program aimed at reducing special education referrals), Words Their Way (spelling), RAZ-Kids (reading/writing), Generation Genius (science), and BrainPOP for social studies! Many different subjects can be aligned with BrainPOP and Flocabulary. I have access to a plethora of websites and subscriptions to customize what your child needs. I believe that any child can learn, especially with the right tutor that is patient, organized, kind, punctual, creative, humorous, and engaging. I assess, create, and assign (if desired) work to do in between sessions. I love to collaborate with others, so if you are working with other specialists, I can work with them too. I approach each topic by quickly and effectively assessing what the child knows, or reflecting on previous notes from previous classes. I engage the student with icebreakers (jokes, riddles, would you rather, sunshine and clouds), and then I assist with homework or use a unique lesson designed just for that particular student; which includes a variety of techniques, such as videos, games, worksheets, online resources, etc. I try to find and/or create interesting resources that provide clear instruction of the content the student needs support or enrichment with.
