About Ayanda
Hi, I'm Ayanda Ngubane.
I'm a TEFL certified English tutor from South Africa.
I'm interested in teaching because I love seeing progress. There's nothing better than watching a student go from "I'm shy to speak" to having a full conversation, I believe in personalised learning. Everyone learns differently, and I enjoy creating lessons that fit your goals, whether that's passing an exam, getting a new job, or just chatting more naturally, and I'm a lifelong learner too. Teaching helps me learn about new cultures and people every single day, and that inspires me.
For me the best part of teaching is seeing confidence grow. Lots of students come nervous and thinking "my English is bad", a few weeks later they're joking, asking questions, and speaking up in meetings. Helping someone find their voice is honestly the biggest win.
In my lessons you can expect a relaxed, friendly start, and fun.

My approach to Private Tutoring
I believe every student learns differently, so my lessons are 100% personalised around your goals, pace, and interests. My approach is student-centred, supportive, and practical:
Communicative & Engaging: we focus on real conversation from day 1. I use questions, role-plays, and topics you actually care about so English feels natural, not like memorising rules.
Structured but Flexible: each lesson has a clear goal + feedback, but I adapt the materials to your level and learning style. Visual, audio, games, or worksheets - whatever works best for you.
Confidence First: Mistakes are part of learning. I create a relaxed, encouraging space where you feel comfortable speaking without fear.
Track Progress: We set goals together and I give you regular feedback + homework/resources so you can see improvement week by week.
I'm TEFL certified, so my lessons follow proven language teaching methods with a focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a balanced way.
Types of lessons I offer
1. General English/Conversation Practice: For all levels. Build fluency, vocabulary, pronunciation, and confidence through topic discussions, debates, and everyday scenarios.
2. English for beginners: Step-by-step foundation in grammar, core vocabulary, and basic speaking + listening. Lots of visuals, repetition, and encouragement.
3. Exam Preparations: IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge, or school exams. We work on test strategies, practice tests, writing feedback, and speaking mock interviews.
4. Business English: Emails, meetings, presentations, interviews, and workplace vocabulary. Tailored to your industry and role.
5 English for kids & Teens: Fun, interactive lessons with stories, games, songs, and activities. Focus on building vocabulary and confidence while keeping it playful.
6. Academic English/ Homework Help: Essay writing, reading comprehension, grammar support, and presentation skills for students.
Other Useful Information About My Lessons
Platform: Lessons are held online via Zoom/Google Meet. All materials are provided by me as PDFs, slides, videos, and worksheets.
Lesson Length: 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Packages available for weekly students.
Materials: No need to buy textbooks. I provide custom lesson plans based on your level.
Homework: Optional, but I always send practice and resources after each class.
First Lesson: We start with a 15-min placement chat to check your level and set goals.
Availability: Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Based in GMT+2.
Who I teach: Kids age 6+, teens, and adults of all levels and backgrounds.
