About Sumira
Tutoring has been a part of my life for the past 10 years. I started taking accelerated math in 6th grade and was tutoring students older and younger than me throughout the years after that. I find joy in seeing that lightbulb turn on and building a student up in a subject they may not feel the most comfortable in :)
That love for teaching has continued into college and I have been recommended by multiple professors to continue my role as a Teaching Assistant for Statistics. Don't worry about making mistakes or feeling lost because I guarantee any starting place is a great place to be and I will get you to where you need to be!

I understand that everyone learns differently :) Visual explanations and breaking down the problem tend to work best. I like to work on examples together with tips and tricks and follow that with problems the student tries independently with me there to jump in when needed.
From student to student, we will figure out what works best for you and what we should work on most, whether that is homework assignments, test preparation, or short problems I create myself.
I truly do want my students to succeed, and want them to feel comfortable to make mistakes and learn to enjoy pivoting from them. Watching a student build their own confidence in doing challenging tasks is my favorite part of tutoring.
These lessons are for any student in elementary school through highschool who would like to learn pre-algebra, algebra, arithmetic, or statistics.
