About Yuli

I’m a university student studying business and computer science, and I’ve been teaching math for 5 years as a Kumon instructor, volunteer educator, and private tutor for students from grade 1 to grade 12.

What I’m best at is adapting to each student. With younger kids, including those with ADHD, I keep lessons short, hands-on, and full of games so their energy works for them. With older students, I slow down and break writing and reading into clear, manageable steps. As a team captain in sports, I’ve learned that confidence comes from small wins, and that’s how I run my lessons.

Because I’m a student myself, I remember what it’s like to stare at a blank essay page or stumble over a hard word, and I explain things in a way that feels relatable instead of intimidating.

About the lesson

Every lesson is built around what your child needs most, whether that’s a school assignment, an upcoming test, or a skill they’ve been struggling with. I create personalized material for each session, so no two lessons are the same.

Before anything else, I get to know how each student learns: what comes easily, where they get stuck, and what keeps them engaged. I use visual aids, interactive activities, and real-life examples to make English practical, and I build on each student’s strengths to strengthen their weak spots.

Patience is at the heart of how I teach. Students learn best when they feel comfortable enough to make mistakes, especially when speaking, so I make sure every lesson feels supportive.

Young learners: phonics, early reading, spelling, and simple sentence writing
Older students: essay writing, reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary
All levels: conversation practice, pronunciation, and listening skills
Every lesson: tailored practice, instant feedback, and a quick update for parents on progress

My goal is a student who feels comfortable with English and confident using it at school and beyond.
