About Jean
As a writing consultant at Appalachian State University, I worked one-on-one with students in hour-long sessions, helping them with assignments such as essays, research papers, citations, proposals, literature reviews, poems, scripts, college applications, resumes, cover letters, etc. I majored in creative writing at my university and specialize in projects like poetry, screenwriting, novels, short stories, and personal essays.

My goal is to boost the confidence of my client. We will work together on developing their skills. A typical session will start with me asking my client what they need help with. We will type a list of goals for the session. I will keep a summarized note of what we discuss in our meeting so the client and I have a record of what we talked about. As a tutor, I intend to help my clients improve their writing and reading skills not only by educating them on what I know but also showing them how they can use the skills they already know to improve and build their confidence in the classroom. I can tutor middle school, high school, and college-level students in English, resume writing, job or college applications, and personal writing projects.
