About Jilian
I have been an elementary public school teacher in Washington, DC for the last 9 years. I began teaching after graduating from Dartmouth College and joined Teach For America. I have my Master's in special education from George Mason University. Throughout my teaching career, I have not only worked with struggling readers/writers, but have also worked with general education students who just need a little extra tutelage. My teaching style is positive and warm: I use praise and feedback to drive students forward.

I recently relocated with my husband from Washington DC to Hoboken NJ. I was a public school special education teacher in DC for 9 years and was given the highest rating of "Highly Effective." I am able to tutor students in all their reading/writing needs. I have 9 years of experience teaching phonics and guided reading for elementary school students, but also am able to teach students of all ages. I was a English and Creative Writing major at Dartmouth College and can teach older students to break down prompts and craft strong essays and fictional stories.
