About Isaac
Hi, I'm Isaac! I'm a university Biology student and IB Diploma graduate based in North Vancouver. I've always loved breaking down complex ideas and systems into something that actually makes sense, and tutoring feels like a natural extension of that.
I know firsthand what it's like to sit in a class feeling completely lost, and I know how much difference it makes when someone takes the time to slow down and explain things in a way that clicks. That's what I try to do in sessions.
I'm patient, well organized, and genuinely invested in the students I work with. Whether you're trying to catch up, build confidence, or just get ahead before the next school year, I'd love to help out however I can.

My approach is built mainly around patience and real understanding. I never rush a student through material if something isn't clicking, we would instead slow down, approach it differently, and work through it until it does. I believe that confusion is never the student's fault, it's just a sign we haven't found the right explanation yet.
I start each new topic by figuring out what the student already knows and where the gaps are. From there I build up concepts from the ground, making sure each step makes sense before moving to the next. That said, I'm also practical about what each subject actually demands in Biology especially, there's a core body of terminology and content that simply needs to be memorized, and I'm a big believer in using flashcards and active recall techniques to make that process as efficient as possible. In Economics I use real world examples wherever possible, because understanding why something matters makes it stick far better
A session usually starts with a quick check in on what the student has been working on in class and where they're feeling stuck. Before each session I ask students to share what they'd like to focus on so I can come prepared to ensure the time in sessions is used as efficiently as possible. From there we tackle the problem areas directly, working through examples together before I step back and let the student try independently. I always leave a few minutes at the end to recap what we covered and set a focus for next time.
As a university Biology student with an IB Diploma, I know what it takes to succeed in challenging academic environments. I know exactly what it feels like to be overwhelmed by coursework and I try to bring that empathy and understanding to every session.
I tutor middle and high school students up to Grade 12 in Math, Biology and Economics. Suitable for students who are struggling and need to rebuild confidence, or motivated students who want to deepen their understanding and improve their grades. Available online across Vancouver, and in person in North and West Vancouver.
