About Iris
I am a doctoral-level cellist with extensive academic training and performance experience. I hold a Doctor degree from the University of North Texas, master degree from the University of Arizona and bachelor degree from the Central Conservatory of Music. My artistic development has been shaped by a strong emphasis on both technical discipline and expressive musicianship.
As both a performer and educator, I believe lasting progress comes from developing clear technical concepts, efficient practice strategies, and confident, relaxed playing. Rather than focusing on isolated details, I guide students toward a deeper understanding of technique, sound, and musical expression.
My teaching approach is structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s goals, helping learners build strong foundations while fostering musical confidence and individuality.

Perfect! Iris is highly observant--I don't know that anything gets by her. She has a strong detail orientation, along with excellent analytic skills. Her ability to pick apart my playing (in the best way), offer suggestions, then review those suggestions with me to help integrate the suggestions in my cello skills was sincerely appreciated. She is excellent!
