About Ibraheem
Alongside my engineering degree, I'm a tennis player and an LTA Level 1 qualified coach, so I've had formal training in teaching young people and I've spent a fair bit of time doing it. Coaching taught me something that carries straight over into tutoring: people don't improve because you tell them what they're doing wrong, they improve when you break a thing down small enough that they can actually do it, then build it back up. The nerves are the same too — a kid frozen on a serve and a kid frozen on a past paper question need much the same thing from you.
I teach because I like the moment something clicks. I've always been the person friends came to before an exam to get a topic explained properly, and I found I enjoyed that more than the studying itself. There's a particular kind of satisfaction in watching someone go from "I'm just bad at maths" to actually getting it, because almost nobody is bad at maths, they've just been taught it badly at some point and never recovered.
I'm relaxed and patient, and I don't make anyone feel stupid for not knowing something. If a student is nervous or has convinced themselves they can't do a subject, that's usually the first thing worth fixing.

I'm a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering Masters student at the University of Edinburgh. I got A's in every one of my Highers and National 5s, including Biology, which I crash Highered in a single year and finished top of my year group in.
That's the thing I'd actually point to. I'm good at picking a subject up quickly and working out what genuinely matters for the exam, and that's what I teach. I've never been a memoriser — I learned by understanding why things work, and that's far more reliable under exam pressure than trying to recall a formula you never really understood.
I've also tutored my younger brother through his National 5s. He was sitting on B's in his prelims and came out with 90%. Most of that was down to structure and understanding what the markers were looking for, not raw ability.
My sessions run for an hour and are led by whatever you need most: homework you're stuck on, past paper practice, or building a weak topic back up from the foundations. I use a lot of SQA past papers because they're the clearest guide to what the exam will actually ask. If a textbook explanation isn't landing, I'll find a different angle until one does.
Lessons are aimed at National 5 and Higher students in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I teach mainly online, which keeps scheduling flexible for both of us, and I'm also happy to teach in person around Fountainbridge, Morningside and nearby areas. The first 30 minutes are free so we can work out whether I'm a good fit before anyone commits.
