About Symphona
Hi, I’m Symphona! I’m a professional engineer with a bachelor’s degree in engineering and an MBA. Throughout my education and career, math, science, and problem-solving have been a major part of what I do, and I enjoy helping others become more comfortable and confident with subjects that may initially seem difficult.
I understand that math does not come easily to everyone, and I believe struggling with a subject does not mean a student is incapable of succeeding in it. Sometimes it simply takes a different explanation, additional practice, or someone willing to slow down and work through the problem step by step.
As a tutor, I’m patient, encouraging, and dependable. I aim to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel free to ask questions, make mistakes, and work through concepts without feeling judged or rushed.
My goal is for students to leave our sessions not only with a better understanding of their current coursework, but also with greater confidence in their own ability to solve problems independently.

My approach to tutoring is patient, practical, and tailored to each student’s learning style. With my background in engineering, I understand how important it is to not only know how to solve a math problem, but to understand why the method works.
I start by identifying where the student is struggling and determining whether the difficulty comes from the current topic or from a gap in an earlier concept. From there, I break problems down into smaller, manageable steps and explain them in different ways until we find an approach that makes sense to the student.
A typical lesson may include reviewing homework or recent class material, going over challenging concepts, working through examples together, and then having the student solve similar problems independently. I also focus on problem-solving strategies that students can use when they encounter unfamiliar questions on their own.
