About Sabine

I am a current PhD candidate and seminar tutor at the University of Manchester. I hold an MA in Gender, Sexuality, and Culture (Distinction), as well as a BA (hons) in English and German (First class).

I have three years' experience teaching an English Literature course at undergraduate level. I also deliver workshops on critical theory and writing skills for postgraduates.

I also have experience mentoring one-on-one with Arts Emergency.

About the lesson

My teaching style usually involves a range of exercises, including writing prompts, key discussion points, and responses to audiovisual materials. These develop students' creativity, ideas, writing quality, and critical thinking skills. I give targeted feedback that enables students to focus on the key areas they need to improve to attain their goals.

I've known Sabine for seven years and they've been an avid reader and researcher ever since. They have a 1st from Sheffield University in English and German, so they understand how English works as a foreign language as well as from a literature studies standpoint. They have a masters degree from Manchester University and they are currently working on a Ph.D. at Manchester. They have been teaching seminars for the past three years and they started a Sexuality Summer School for those who want to learn all year round. Their specialities are Queer and Trans theory, Politics, Science Fiction, Sexuality, and Feminism. I would heartily recommend Sabine's expertise on and experience with anything English-related and I also want to highlight that they're friendly and approachable and a great mentor. They are invested in and excited by other people's projects and will work hard to help someone research and craft a great essay.
