About Nathalie

Hi there! I'm a private tutor going into my ninth year of tutoring and teaching experience. I hold a Master's Degree in English Literature and graduated from my Bachelor's degree with first-class honours in English Literature and Creative Writing. I have taught KS3, GCSE, A-Level and University students alike, and have over 3000 hours of tutoring experience under my belt. I began tutoring full-time in 2022 and am entirely dedicated to helping my students reach their maximum potential and the grades they aim for. I've worked with students of all abilities - I've often helped students in the past raise their grades by two, and sometimes three grade boundaries. 100% of my students achieved the grades they needed to move onto A-Level or University. I've also worked across all the major exam boards, including AQA, WJEC, OCR and Edexcel. I also offer editing, marking and proofreading services for all types of writing so please don't hesitate to get in touch! Tutoring, for me, is very intuitive. I get a sense of where exactly the student needs a confidence boost and what parts of their work need improving. As a result, every session is tailored to each of my student's unique needs. I studied English Literature at sixth-form, achieving an A, as well as two B's in French and Sociology. Amongst my GCSEs, I achieved 5 A*-A grades, including English Literature and Language. I was also nominated for my first tutoring agency's global 'Tutor of the Year' award in 2018 and I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate (background check).

About the lesson

These are only a few of many happy students I've had the pleasure of tutoring: "Hi Nathalie, I just wanted to let you know Hector got fantastic results. Thank you so much for all your input. He got a 9 in English language and an 8 in English literature. Overall he got five 9s and six 8s so he’s very happy! [...] Amazing teacher. Has made such a difference. Excellent teaching, resources and marking" - Kiki P. "Hi Nathalie, Millie just wanted to let you know she got a grade 7 in both English papers, which is the equivalent of an A! Thank you for all your help" - Emma S. "Nathalie tutored our son on a 1:1 basis. He was struggling with GCSE English Literature and Language. Nathalie understood the problem areas that he needed to work on. We can’t recommend her highly enough, she is professional and encouraged our son to have a positive attitude towards his work. Under Nathalie’s guidance he got the marks he needed to do his A-levels. In addition to his improved English scores, his History mark went up 2 grades. As the tools he gained under her tutorship, helped him better interpret and answer questions in his subject. Thank you so much Nathalie! We are hoping she has space to tutor our daughter one day too!" - Janet W. "Nathalie has helped me so much over the last few months with all parts of my English GCSEs. She is very kind and easy to talk to. She assisted me with my spelling, structure and devices. I would recommend her to anyone wanting to get better grades in their English exams." - Robert M. The most important factor of tutoring is the relationship I hold with my students. I'm a friendly, approachable and enthusiastic tutor and I find that students tend to feel at ease with me. I try to build a respectful rapport with my students in which they feel comfortable learning with me and I think that humour and a relaxed atmosphere always go a long way! I help my students to: • Really get to grips with their texts and the content within them • Develop the skills needed to analyse texts with insightful and original ideas • Learn advanced literary techniques and how to identify them in a text that will make their work stand out from the crowd • Most importantly, to incorporate all of this into a well-structured, cohesive and clear answer • I also offer help with creative and transactional writing First, I like to build my student's knowledge of literary devices and why they are used. We analyse texts in class and identify devices in them and then talk about their effect. Then, I turn to the structure of essay answers. This is arguably the most important part - using the devices and analysis we have worked on, I will work with students to teach them how to structure their answers clearly and concisely. I offer detailed feedback and guidance, sentence by sentence, that aims to show students exactly how they should be writing their answers. We also look at model answers in the lesson to give students an example of good writing. Ultimately, I aim to boost their confidence and help them write top-scoring answers that will gain them the highest grades they can!

Perfect! We are thrilled with the result, that our daughter Izzie, achieved in her A-level English under Nathalie’s guidance. Izzie was predicted a grade D, and with Nathalie’s meticulous planning and expert coaching, she achieved a grade B. The improvement in her understanding of the subject and her confidence was remarkable.
We originally found Nathalie on Superprof and were drawn to her extensive experience and dedication to tutoring. Her approach is impressive, each session was tailored to Izzie's needs, and her communication with us as parents kept us informed and reassured throughout the process.
Whilst you can find tutors offering lower hourly rates, the preparation Nathalie puts in, coupled with the result she helped our daughter achieve, makes her service exceptional and well worth the investment. We have no hesitation in recommending Nathalie to any parent looking for a tutor who will deliver on exam results.

Perfect! Nathalie has been tutoring our daughter Olivia in GCSE English literature & language, Olivia was struggling to make sense of the syllabus being in a large secondary school. Having these one-to-one sessions with Nathalie has been invaluable. She has been very understanding of our daughters needs and has gently coaxed her along. Olivia was very nervous to start with but with Nathalie’s kindness and patience with her has made such a difference. Nathalie puts a lot of effort and time into her lesson plans and gives weekly feedback on what they have covered each lesson, what went well, what can be improved and next steps. We highly recommend her as a tutor. She is an absolute gem.

I’m happy to report we have a very happy Jenna, who got a B for her English Literature! She got her results and entry to her University of choice :)

We are super impressed that she managed to pick up her grades from a D to 2 points off an A. Natalie’s tutoring clearly made a huge difference and we can’t thank you enough.
