About Sophie
Hi, my name is Sophie Phillips, I’m 17 years old and currently a Year 12 student studying English Advanced and English Extension. I’m passionate about English and enjoy helping others build confidence in their reading, writing, and analytical skills.
I’m a patient, supportive, and friendly tutor who focuses on making English feel clearer and less overwhelming. I aim to explain things in simple, step-by-step ways and adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s learning needs. My goal is to help students not only improve their marks, but also feel more confident in their abilities.
I have strong academic results in English and experience helping classmates improve their essays and understanding of texts. I especially enjoy working through essay structure, textual analysis, and helping students express their ideas more clearly.
I work with primary and high school students (Years 3–10), supporting them with reading comprehension, essay writing, and exam preparation in a calm and encouraging environment.

I focus on clear, supportive, and skills-based tutoring tailored to each student’s needs. My approach involves breaking down essay questions step-by-step, modelling strong examples, and guiding students to improve their own writing through practice and feedback. I also focus on building confidence in analysis and structuring responses rather than memorisation.
Lessons are typically 1 hour, allowing enough time to revise concepts, complete guided practice, and review feedback.
I am a Year 12 student currently studying English Advanced and English Extension, with strong academic results in essay writing, textual analysis, and creative writing. I also have experience helping peers improve their understanding and written responses.
My lessons are designed for primary and high school students (Years 3–10), particularly those needing support with reading comprehension, essay writing, and English analysis skills.
