Hello, I'm Heather! With 8 years of teaching experience, I currently work in a grammar school and as an GCSE examiner but have previously held the position of Head of Key Stage 3 Maths. I hold a First-Class Honours BEd in Primary Education with a Maths Specialism and have since transitioned to secondary teaching, where I’ve developed a deep passion for supporting students in their mathematical journeys.
My approach is student-centred. Together, we will reflect on any previous assessments identifying areas for development and also strengths. I will then devise a plan with the student to focus on weaker areas to ensure time is spent efficiently in lessons. However, this is completely adaptable and if students need to cover something they are learning in school or revise for an upcoming assessment, this will take precedence to help improve the students' confidence.
Every lesson is different because every student is different. Some pupils need a starter to revise lots of different areas of maths whereas other pupils need that time dedicated to in depth learning instead where perhaps they need more practice on fundamentals to better prepare them for the work in class. The pace of the lesson is completely dictated by the pupils' ability but I ensure that the pupil has seen the topic in a variety of contexts and asked in different ways to ensure a depth of understanding before progressing. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Perfect! Heather was brilliant in finding out my weaker areas in math and finding ways to build my confidence in learning how to complete those questions.
Heather made it easy for me to understand and helped me find ways to remember little tricks.
Overall I am very grateful for all her help!!- Ellie is extremely hard working and takes on all advice. Main areas to improve are percentages, proportion and long worded questions.Heather's response :
Perfect! My son had missed half of year 10 through illness and was predicted for a grade 5 in GCSE maths. He started weekly tutoring with Heather at the start of year 11 and ultimately achieved a grade 8. This would not have been possible without Heather. Heather was always reliable and super helpful - my son misses her support now...

Heather is brilliant. She really takes her time to help my daughter understand each and every thing she struggles with. She is very patient and kind which helps my daughter feel comfortable ! My daughter has come a long way since being tutored by Heather and we are so thankful!
Heather has nearly a decade of experience teaching. She has taught a wide variety of ages, communicating effectively to advance student skills and understanding. Highly recommended!
As Heathers husband I have witness her assist numerous students both online and in person to reach success in mathematics. She has plenty of experience required to ensure her students get all of the support they need and is extremely flexible in the way she teaches to suit the students needs.
Heather has been a good match for my daughter. She quickly identified gaps in knowledge, and has structured the lessons to address this. There is no time wasting in the lesson. My daughter’s confidence has grown in the subject and she looks forward to her lessons with Heather.
