About Mister
Inspiring confidence involves patience, positive feedback, and giving students "success experiences" to reinforce that confidence. Never showing frustration on my part is a large element of that. The key to success is a feeling of confidence and mastery of the given subject. This can be instilled through encouragement, a relaxed and friendly teaching style, and, if I may say it "knowing my stuff." The students will internalize my confidence and knowledgeability and work even better. The class should be an enjoyable experience that the student(s) look forward to coming to.

I have several methods and techniques, depending on the level of the student. If teaching French, I determine their level, and for beginners - for example - start with verb conjugation, prepositions, pronouns, then work up to the next level: verb tenses, disjunctive pronouns, adverbs, adjectives, collocations, and on up. With English, the process is much the same - again, depending on the student's age level and ability level, starting with grammar - the "base" for any language learning, plus the integration of vocabulary, which again, involves teaching, step by step, vocabulary (and all the classes of vocabulary: nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, word order (syntax), and of course, speaking skills and pronunciation. Language learning is like a pyramid - grammar as the base, then other elements added on, or integrated into, the base, teaching more complex and elaborate (but necessary) structures as the lessons proceed. /// It should be noted that it is vital to keep the student(s) motivated through positive feedback and encouragement. /// Any points of difficulty would be 'deconstructed' and worked through together to maintain the essential optimism on the part of the student. /// What sets me apart as a French tutor is not only studying it through university, but living in Paris for 20 years - a "total immersion" experience for me which has rendered my level of fluency in the top level - nearly native-like. For English, I have worked as a script editor in film, newspaper reporter, and have a mastery of written English.

I normally charge $35 / hour, but if a student needs more time, I can go lower to $25 / hour, but only if the student wants three hours per week or more, normally on different days of the week.
