About Myia
My name is Myia. I am 30 years old, and I am from Ontario, Canada. I was born and raised in rural Ontario, but have lived abroad in various countries (Ecuador, Chile, USA).
I studied Modern Languages (Linguistics and Literature) with a major in Spanish and ESL education. I am TESL/TEFL certified.
I studied abroad for 2 years and worked abroad for another. I have experience learning a foreign language in a foreign country, as well as in a classroom. I try to bring my experiences into my classroom, sharing tips and tricks I learned in my own studies with my students to help them reach their language goals.
I am interested in a variety of topics and am happy to discuss most topics with my students.

I like to use a variety of methods when teaching, including watching videos, reading articles together, and speaking together.
I prefer to teach grammar and vocabulary in a conversational context. We will learn relevant grammar and vocabulary, and then work to use that in a conversation or situation.
I teach all levels of English (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1/ Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced). I do NOT specialize in IELTS tests.
I teach students from ages 12 and up.
I have been teaching English online, and in a classroom since 2018. I have experience living abroad and learning a foreign language as well. I try to use my own experiences to help my students improve their language skills, and work towards their language goals.
