About Sean

Each session is tailored to what you need most. You might be returning to education after many years, struggling to balance study with work and family commitments, feeling overwhelmed by an assignment, or simply unsure how university-level study works.

Depending on your needs, we can work on study planning and time management, breaking large assignments into manageable stages, academic reading and note-taking, understanding assignment questions, planning essays and projects, developing critical thinking, managing deadlines, preparing for independent study and building confidence in your academic abilities.

We can also look at how you currently study and develop a realistic approach that fits around your existing responsibilities rather than imposing an unrealistic study schedule.

A typical first session involves discussing what you are studying, what you want to achieve and where you are currently getting stuck. From there, we can agree on a practical plan and focus subsequent sessions on the areas that will make the greatest difference.

My aim is not to do academic work for you. It is to help you become better equipped to manage your own learning successfully.

About the lesson

I’m an experienced adult educator, doctoral researcher and business professional with a particular interest in helping people develop confidence in learning and study.

I hold an MBA in Marketing and a BA in Journalism and am currently completing a PhD in Work & Employment Studies at the University of Limerick. I have taught adult learners, assessed assignments and provided individual developmental feedback, as well as delivering training and presentations throughout my professional career.

I also understand the realities of adult education from personal experience. I have combined postgraduate study with a demanding professional career and understand that succeeding as an adult learner involves much more than simply understanding the course material. Finding time to study, approaching academic reading, organising assignments, managing deadlines and developing confidence in your own abilities can all be challenging.

I particularly welcome mature students, people returning to education after a long break, part-time students and professionals undertaking degrees or professional qualifications.

My approach is supportive and practical. We can identify what is getting in your way, develop strategies that suit your circumstances and gradually build your confidence as an independent learner.
