About Anne
I’ve been teaching violin privately since 2016 and hold a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (with a focus in instrumental and secondary education), plus years of K–12 orchestra and general music experience. As a certified music teacher, I bring both strong educational training and real performance experience to every lesson.
I focus on recognizing each student’s potential and using a customizable approach so they build both skill and confidence. What I love most is watching students accomplish things they didn’t think were possible, whether that’s nailing a tricky passage or simply enjoying the process more.
I’m patient, adaptable, and passionate about helping students of all ages make steady, meaningful progress. I’d love to help you get started.

Before we meet I usually ask a few quick questions so I have a sense of where you’re starting. Then on the first lesson we dive right in!
If you already play, we’ll start with something you know, clean it up a bit, and add some new material. If you’re brand new, we’ll cover the basics and you’ll be playing a simple tune by the end of the lesson.
I’ve worked with students from age 5 to 75. Most of the time I stick to classical repertoire: Suzuki method, Sassmannshaus, Barbara barber and beyond! But I’m also happy to explore old-time, Irish, or Scottish fiddle styles if that’s what lights you up. Whatever your age or background, I love helping people go after the musical goals that matter to them.

Good communicator and teacher; willing to work with you toward any goal, and great at teaching technique, not just repertoire. Highly recommend.
Anne has been my violin teacher for about a year now and I highly recommend her. She is great at helping her students develop technical skills while also teaching them how to develop their own musicality and expression.

I love my lessons with Anne! She is a fabulous teacher. After taking lessons for most of my childhood, I hadn't taken lessons in almost 10 years. Anne has helped me rediscover the joy of practicing and playing violin. Her intuition, perceptiveness, and keen attention to my technique, posture, intonation, and overall sound has really helped me improve and regain my love for playing. She's dependable, friendly, communicative, and professional. I highly recommend Anne!

Most of my students are on a monthly tuition plan rather than paying individual lesson rates. Monthly tuition reserves a regular weekly lesson time, helping you build consistency and make steady, exciting progress!
I use a simple online platform for billing, scheduling, lesson notes, and practice resources, so everything stays organized and easy to access between lessons.
Hourly and short-term options are available too, but they don’t guarantee a consistent time slot. Most continuing students choose the monthly plan after their first few lessons.
You’ll also have opportunities to perform in two fun, welcoming studio recitals each year, plus receive custom practice materials made just for you to keep practice engaging and motivation high!
The first lesson is a chance to talk about your goals, try my teaching approach, and see if we’re a good fit. Lessons are available in person at my Chicago studio or online. All ages and levels welcome!
