About David
As a qualified and dedicated English tutor, I bring over seven years of teaching experience to every lesson, backed by a CELTA certification and TEFL training. I have successfully taught students from primary level to adults, helping them improve academic grades, build real-world communication skills, and achieve strong results in exams such as IELTS and IGCSE. My teaching style is professional, patient, and highly structured, but also supportive and encouraging, ensuring that every learner feels comfortable, motivated, and confident. I believe that effective learning happens when lessons are interactive, well-structured, and adapted to each student’s goals. My teaching approach is strongly communicative and student-centered, meaning students are actively involved in speaking, writing, and applying English in real situations, rather than just memorizing grammar rules.
To support progress, I use a range of methods, including:
Diagnostic assessments and goal-setting during the first lesson
Personalized lesson plans based on learning style, level, and objectives
Real-world speaking, reading, and writing tasks to build fluency and confidence
Targeted error correction and guided practice to improve grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation

Exam-style training for IGCSE, IELTS, or Cambridge English tests when required
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, but students preparing for exams or needing faster progress may choose 75- or 90-minute sessions.
Lessons are available online via Zoom or Google Meet with shared whiteboard, recorded notes, and homework support, or in-person in Johor Bahru for students who prefer face-to-face learning.
