About Rikus
I have been teaching for almost 40 years. I have had the privilege of teaching students of all ages in the fields of Music, as well as English as a Foreign Language. I have a degree in Music (B Mus), a Diploma in Church music, a TEFL certificate and have had more than 5000 students over many years, (in both fields mentioned previously). My most recent experience in teaching EFL, was during 2019, when I taught English at at Secondary School in Chachoengsao, Thailand. I taught students aged between 9 and 18 years old, in classes of up to 45 students per class. I get on with all kinds of people,and I'd like to describe myself as a friendly, approachable, creative, responsible and reliable person.

Depending on the students' ages, needs and requirements, I like to be well-prepared for my lessons, and try to make the lessons as interesting and creative as possible, often making use of props, examples, movements, (TPR), using reference materials, drawing on own experience(s) and those of the student(s) when they feel comfortable in sharing, praising students as often as possible for their effort(s), creating a friendly, relaxed atmosphere to put the student at ease, encouraging students to try their best, but also at the same time not making them feel 'under pressure.
