About Mika

Hello! My name is Mika, and I am a Japanese tutor with over 5 years of teaching experience. I hold a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and have lived in Australia for 18 years, giving me a deep understanding of bilingual learning challenges. I’m also a mom to two kids whom I have personally taught Japanese, and they are now fluent speakers! This experience has given me firsthand insight into how to make learning Japanese fun, engaging, and effective, especially for children and beginners. My experience working with students from young children to university level allows me to adapt my teaching approach to suit different learning needs. Whether you're a beginner, a student preparing for exams, or someone who simply wants to learn conversational Japanese, I am here to guide you with structured, engaging, and effective lessons tailored to your goals.

About the lesson

Teaching Techniques & Methodology
I believe that learning should be engaging, structured, and adapted to each student’s needs. My lessons focus on:
Play-based learning for younger children using songs, games, and storytelling
Conversational practice for real-life situations, travel, and daily interactions
Structured grammar & vocabulary for students preparing for exams or formal study
Cultural insights & etiquette to deepen understanding beyond just language
Personalized lesson plans tailored to each student's learning pace and goals

I adjust my teaching style to suit different age groups and learning levels, ensuring lessons are both effective and enjoyable.

Lesson Length
Each lesson typically lasts 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the student's age and focus level:

Young children (4-7 years old) – 30-minute lessons with interactive activities
Primary & high school students (8-17 years old) – 45-60 minutes covering vocabulary, conversation, and grammar
University students & adult learners – 60-90 minutes focusing on structured language learning, academic Japanese, and conversational fluency

My Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
5+ years of teaching experience with children and young adults
Lived in Australia for 18 years, familiar with bilingual learning challenges
Experience teaching various age groups, from beginners to advanced learners

Who Are My Lessons For?
My Japanese lessons are perfect for:
Children aged 4-12 – Fun, interactive beginner lessons
High school & university students – Structured learning for academic success
️ Travelers & beginners – Essential Japanese for real-life situations
Adult learners – Business and professional Japanese

Whether you prefer online lessons or in-person sessions, I create a supportive, engaging, and structured learning experience for all students!
