I will teach maths and physics in a stimulating and tailored fashion, having experienced myself, the ‘one shoe fits all’ approach to classroom teaching. In the initial session we will discuss what it is you want to achieve from the tutorials -preferred teaching styles, particular focuses etc. I will then construct a flexible plan which addresses these accordingly. To support your learning, I will provide you with additional material such as examples, assignments, problem sheets etc and will be available outside of tutorials to answer questions you may have. My main objective is to improve your confidence and competence in the given subject within a positive and proactive learning environment.
Tutorials will be carried out in the interactive workspace environment with face-to-face online discussion and use of my iPad Pro and stylus to provide visual assistance.
A typical tutorial might look like:
Teaching/Recapping Material (15-20 mins)
The first part of the session will be spent teaching/recapping material from the syllabus and working to develop the depth of your understanding by walking through derivations together, looking at ideas from multiple angles etc. A deeper understanding and having the ability to analyse a concept in different ways will aid you massively when it comes to remembering content and will make studying the subject more rewarding.
Applying Knowledge and Developing Exam Technique (40-45 mins)
After covering the content, we will be applying the knowledge through a series of example problems and exam questions. There will be a particular emphasis on developing exam technique in this section, which is crucial for success in these subjects. I will develop your understanding of how mark schemes work and how to convert your knowledge into marks in the exam.
