About Shantel

Hello, my name is Shantel, and I am passionate about helping students achieve academic success and prepare for future opportunities. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing, a Master of Business Administration, and a Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Georgetown University. I am also pursuing an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies while continuing my work in education, accounting, and student development.

Throughout my career, I have enjoyed mentoring and supporting students in mathematics, standardized test preparation, college readiness, and academic planning. As the founder of College Prep Institute, I work with students and families to navigate college admissions, scholarships, financial aid, military and ROTC opportunities, and academic goal setting.

I believe every student can succeed when given personalized support, encouragement, and effective learning strategies. My goal is to help students build confidence, strengthen their skills, and develop the tools they need to succeed both in the classroom and beyond graduation.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed for middle school, high school, and college-bound students who want to strengthen their math skills, improve test scores, and build academic confidence. I provide tutoring in Algebra, Geometry, SAT Math, ACT Math, ASVAB preparation, study skills, and college readiness. Each lesson begins with an assessment of the student's current understanding, followed by targeted instruction, guided practice, and strategies for independent success.

My teaching approach focuses on breaking complex concepts into clear, manageable steps while adapting instruction to each student's learning style. I believe students learn best when they understand the "why" behind a concept rather than simply memorizing procedures. I use real-world examples, practice problems, and test-taking strategies to help students improve both comprehension and performance.

What sets me apart is my combination of academic tutoring and college readiness coaching. In addition to helping students succeed in math, I help families prepare for college admissions, scholarships, military and ROTC opportunities, and standardized testing. My goal is to help students not only earn better grades and test scores but also develop the confidence and skills needed for long-term academic success.
