About JOHN
I am a retired manufacturing and supply chain operations business executive with over 40 years of international experience - both as an employee and as a business owner. Along the way, I have taught English, Math and many other subjects to people we hired to run and operate our international facilities in many countries such as India, China, Malaysia, Italy, etc. Since 2006, I have owned and operated my own company and have found time to teach ESL/TEFL in six (6) countries since becoming TEFL-certified in 2015.

My teaching method can best be described as an amalgam of the Communicative Language Method (CLT) and the Direct Method. I incorporate a lot of audio-visual content in my lessons, as I strive to teach listening and speaking skills first. I believe that too many students who try to learn a second or third language are forced to learn grammar, reading and writing before they learn to communicate in the language. English is no exception. Since English is a difficult language to learn and has so many rules and grammatical exceptions, it lends itself to be learned by listening and speaking first. Finally, I have lived and worked in 30 countries during my working life; therefore, I understand and incorporate a lot of customs and cultural work into my lessons...using "compare and contrast" principles and methodology to help the students understand English not only from their point of view, but a global perspective.
