About Marie
I am a dedicated French tutor with a genuine passion for language, communication, and helping students succeed in any goals they set for themselves. Language opens doors: to new cultures, new opportunities, and new confidence. My teaching style combines clarity, patience, and organisation. I understand that learning a new language can feel challenging, which is why I create a space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and progressing at their own pace.

My approach to teaching French is student-centred, interactive, and practical. I focus on helping learners build confidence while developing strong foundations in grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and conversation.
I use a combination of:
- Communicative Method – Students speak from the very first lesson. I prioritise real-life conversations and practical language use.
- Immersion Techniques – Whenever possible, I conduct parts of the lesson in French to improve listening and comprehension.
- Task-Based Learning – Activities such as role-plays, dialogues, reading short articles, or writing emails.
- Grammar Instruction – I explain grammar simply, using examples and guided practice.
- Personalised Learning Plans – Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals (exam preparation, travel, business French, academic support, etc.).
I also incorporate listening exercises, pronunciation drills, vocabulary expansion strategies and cultural insights about French-speaking countries
My goal is not just to teach the language, but to help students think in French.
Standard lessons are approximately 60 minutes long. Intensive options are also available - 90 minutes
A typical 60-minute lesson includes:
Review of previous material (10–15 minutes)
Introduction of new topic (15–20 minutes)
Practice activities (20 minutes)
Speaking and application (10–15 minutes)
I am a master student research supervisor tutoring students in completing their master dissertation. I have experience in developing lesson plans and providing supervision to support anyone with their goals. I also tutor students preparing their French GCSE. I support parents wanting their children to become bilingual with tips and advice.
