About Polly
My name is Polly and I am an experienced, qualified teacher. For the past 9 years I have taught French, German and EAL in the UK and in Malaysia. I am passionate about education, keep up to date with latest research and understand the importance of fun and engaging lessons to allow children to achieve their best while enjoying themselves. During the pandemic, I maintained a rigorous and engaging curriculum whilst teaching entirely online, therefore I have developed a wide bank of resources, and knowledge of many online learning technologies to support students while learning from home. I love languages, and continue to learn new ones myself. I teach my students the importance and magic of learning new languages, and the doors it can open for them in later life. I have several years' experience teaching children who do not speak English at home, and also have a CELTA qualification and so am well placed to support learners of the English language, children and adults alike, become more adept and confident when communicating in English. I have experience teaching French to A-Level, EAL to primary school learners of all ages and abilities, and German to GCSE level. I am also qualified to teach English as an Additional Language to adults. Polly is a hard-working and dedicated teacher who truly understands the individual needs of her students and who strives to plan activities that suit all types of learners. Polly has her students' well-being and learning as her highest priority and in her years working with us, she ensured that all her students flourished and made excellent progress in French. She developed very positive relationships with everyone in our Languages team and was always a very supportive colleague who contributed creatively to our departmental meetings. Her years teaching online in lockdown in Malaysia allowed her to display her excellent IT skills. Those years online also allowed Polly to demonstrate how she could quickly adapt to different teaching contexts, while still providing innovative and motivating experiences to her students during challenging times.
