About Maria
The best part of being an educator, is watching my student's confidence grow as they realize their full potential. I have worked in education for 4 years, and have tutored all age groups in a variety of core subjects. I am a licensed teacher, and have a Child Development Associates.
I focus on creating a welcoming, and safe learning environment. I also believe that open communication with my students and their guardians is essential to their success.
Both of my parents work in education, my mother is a special education teacher and my father taught english. I started tutoring when I was in high school, and began my career in a school shortly thereafter.
I have 4 years of experience as an educator working with all age groups, and am a licensed teacher. I am CPR and first aid certified, and trained in ADA accomodations.

When working with a new student, the first step is identifying goals, as well as learning styles to create a personalized cirriculumn.
I have experience working with special needs students, including those with ADHD, learning disabilities, austism, or behavioral disabilities.
My best advice is to find a passionate teacher that you are excited to learn from. Every educator has a different teaching style, so it is important to find one that can match your learning style!
Recently, I had a student diagnosed with ADHD, and with the collaboration of my teaching staff, their guardians, and their doctor, we have been able to identify their learning style and the best practices to overcome their struggles. The student is now improving at a rapid pace, and throughly enjoys class.

Maria tutored both of my daughters before, and we hired her to help my oldest to prepare for her ACT after not doing so well her first try. After Maria tutored her for 6 weeks my daughter's ACT score almost doubled. I can't recommend her enough.
