I started tutoring students as a volunteer in high school. In college I continued my tutoring for high school students and also taught classroom science lessons for inner city middle schoolers in Nashville. My tutoring continued through my graduate studies.
I have a bachelors in economics from Vanderbilt University, and am completing my masters in biomedical sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I have over three years of laboratory research experience in various fields as well as two years of business experience in equity derivatives trading and investment banking.

I always begin by asking a student to answer some questions in their topic of interest and think out loud. It is essential for a tutor to understand how a student thinks before they can begin to help them.
I have worked with high school and middle school students.
I would advise them to hire someone with extensive experience in the area. Teachers who have used the basics they are teaching for advanced study not only have a better understanding of the material, but can use their experiences to enrich their students’ education
I am passionate about my research. I currently study structural biology as it relates to the opioid epidemic. In the last few months I have made a breakthrough in my work that will not only let me finish my thesis, but will also bring us one step closer to developing a pharmacological therapy for opioid addiction. I hope to be published in the journal Nature by the end of 2022
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
students should first question if they are missing a fact or a understanding of a concept. Facts can be googled but concepts need a personal explanation. They should think out loud as often as possible during a tutoring session so that their teacher can help them correct their thinking which will help them outside the scope of the problem at hand. I aim to teach my students how to think, rather than how to solve specific problems.
