About Jordan
As a successful honors student, I recognize the need not only to memorize material, but to comprehend it completely. When I tutor a student, I look for them not to get the right answer, but to truly understand the material. As I have learned over the years, the best tutor is failure. Although it is often frustrating to lack understanding, i seek to create a safe place for someone to attempt a concept, helping guide them through attempts at understanding, until they finally reach a state where they can teach the concept back to me just as well as I can to them. Through this method I am able to help nearly any student, for what may not be present in natural talent can be found through hard work.
Through my tutoring I pass on knowledge of subjects, effective studying skills, and general test taking strategies that I have learned and honed over nearly 16 years of schooling.
My favorite part.of tutoring is watching the "lightbulb moment" that students reach. Often times the biggest obstacle for a student's understanding is a certain nuance that is just barely out of their reach. Through tutoring, you are able to guide one's learning, showing them the "missing link" that divides a struggling student from one who comprehends a subject. It is the best feeling to show a discouraged student that they had what it takes to successful all along, that they only needed guidance to attain it.
