About Jessica
I am a junior Music Education student at Texas Lutheran University where I am the principal Bass Clarinet player for the TLU Wind Ensemble. This will be my second year teaching clarinet lessons, and I am so excited to get started! I provide quality clarinet lessons by creating a foundation for fundamentals in my beginning students and expanding on these fundamentals for my older students. My love for clarinet and music is expansive and I hope to share that love with my students!

I started teaching middle schoolers lessons as a teachers assistant for my lesson teacher, when I was in high school.
I have taught lessons for two years in the past, one year in Fort Bend ISD in Sugar Land, TX and one year in Seguin ISD in Seguin, TX. I have also been a marching band technician for two years, one year in Cypress Fair-Banks ISD in Cypress, TX and one year in Seguin ISD in Seguin, TX.

I start by asking them to play some of the scales they know, have them play a tonguing exercise, and a long tone exercise to assess where they are at with their playing.
Beginning middle school students to seniors in high school.
Make sure they are going to work on aspects of your playing or music that you enjoy. If you don't enjoy going to your lessons, there's something wrong.
My favorite memory of teaching lessons was when I was working with a student on chromatic fingerings. Watching their face light up when they realized they could use different fingerings for different notes and play their first chromatic scale as a sixth grader, was a very rewarding moment.
