About Florence
Hi!
I love working with children, seniors, and just about anyone who wants to see how FUN and rewarding art can be! I've taught art as a form of self expression, quality time, and as therapy for special needs children and seniors.
Art is very rewarding and unique to each person!
I enjoy the positive atmosphere our art sessions create, building self-confidence and self-expression.
I love to learn what styles of art the students enjoy and I try to help them discover their abilities! Sometimes a student will not even realize how much ability they have until they learn and new art techniques and ways to develop them!
We always have a few laughs and qualtiy time with the whole family! Art can be a great resource for stress relief or self expression:)
During my internship for TR back in the 1980's, I taught art as a form of Therapeutic Recreation for children with special needs
I have a MSEd in School Counseling, a BS in Therapeutic Recreation, and a AAS in Recreation Leadership. I've taken art classes at the Art Student's League in Manhatten and at WCC as well as during my 6 years in the Therapeutic Recreation programs in college. I use art as a form of TR for the children and adult programs I implement for my nonprofit 501(c)(3) Fun For Cure, Inc.

I like to assess the new student's leisure/art history and their current needs. This assessment is done by interview/chat online. Then we chat about what kind of art we both prefer and why. We have fun trying new styles and ways to draw or paint, using self-expression and freestyle techniques.
