About Samira
Hello Art Lovers!
Welcome to my world of art education, where my 17 years of experience as an art professor and teacher in America and my home country come to life. My expertise spans foundational drawing, color theory, composition, and a range of mediums like acrylics, gouache, watercolors, as well as digital art in Procreate and Photoshop.
My teaching is personalized, offering private lessons in Shoreline or dynamic online sessions via Zoom for students across the USA. I'm adept at guiding students in creating outstanding college portfolios and in exploring both abstract and figurative painting.
While my personal art style is deeply rooted in traditional Persian painting, I'm equally equipped to teach various modern styles. I charge $50 per hour, a testament to the quality and comprehensive nature of the education you'll receive.

My teaching journey began during my master's degree studies. As a standout student, I was offered a teaching position at one of Iran's top universities. Initially, I planned to teach for just one semester, but I quickly fell in love with the profession. It was then I realized my true calling was in teaching.
I hold a Master's degree in Art and have completed specialized courses in painting, photography, and digital arts. With 13 years of teaching experience at Tehran University, I've covered subjects like Photoshop, art history, and art fundamentals. Recently, I've honed my skills in traditional Persian painting under renowned masters in Iran and pursued advanced courses in drawing, painting, and digital arts in New York and Europe. Additionally, I've taken art therapy courses to enhance my ability to use art as a medium for creativity and mental well-being.

When I begin working with a new student, my first step is to understand their unique needs and interests. This conversation helps me tailor my teaching to their specific goals, whether it's exploring a certain technique, medium, or style.
For beginners, I start with the essentials of drawing and the basics of their chosen medium. This foundational knowledge is crucial in helping them develop their own style. I also offer tips and guidance specific to their medium of choice.
To ensure a good fit, I usually suggest a quick, free online meeting. This initial interaction is not just about evaluating their level, but also about understanding their aspirations and how I can best support their artistic journey.
I also request to see some of their previous works, if any. This helps me assess their current level and decide the best starting point in my teaching process. My aim is always to create a comfortable, supportive, and productive learning environment for each student.
I've had the privilege of teaching a diverse range of students, aged from 9 to 75 years old, with various backgrounds. Some of my students come with an artistic foundation, while others are new to the field. This diversity, including my recent experience teaching a 9-year-old online, enriches my teaching practice and allows me to adapt to different learning needs.
When looking for a teacher in art, I recommend finding someone who is not only skilled but also truly passionate about their craft. Choose a teacher who inspires by their own example, someone who loves their work deeply and feels a calling towards it. Such teachers often bring a wealth of experience and knowledge, as these qualities naturally follow from their dedication and journey in the art world.
Recently, I visited some of the world's most renowned art museums – the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, and the Guggenheim. While not a traditional 'event', this trip was incredibly enlightening and adventurous for me. It was an opportunity to immerse myself in diverse art forms, learn extensively, and observe masterpieces up close. This experience has enriched my perspective as both an artist and a teacher.
