About Scott

I'm an experienced educator with over 10 years of experience, having taught middle and high school English before serving as an instructional coach and working as a standardized test developer.

I am passionate about English Language Arts and instilling a love of reading and writing in students that translates to greater understanding and increased achievement.

I come from a family of teachers and knew at an early age that I would end up in education. I was thrilled to begin my teaching career in the District of Columbia Public Schools after serving in AmeriCorps in Detroit as an education specialist for two years.

I am a certified 6-12 ELA teacher with an undergraduate degree in English, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching.

I have experience teaching high school, middle school, and adult education, and have also served as an instructional coach across academic subjects, including math, literacy, science, and social studies.

I also worked as an English Language Arts test developer for cumulative and formative standardized assessments for grades 3 through 12.

About the lesson

I have a flexible process, as I believe that in order to best meet the needs of a client, we should design the process together.

We will use the first exchange to set up a process, timeline, and structure that works for you.

I have worked with a wide variety of students, from early elementary school to adults, with the core of my experience from 3rd through 10th grades. I have worked extensively in rural, urban, and suburban schools with students across demographics.

The best teachers differentiate their instructional approach to meet the needs of their students. Look for someone who will meet you where you are and will tailor their approach to best suit you while also ensuring they are using research-based best practices.
