My services are innovative and cutting-edge as I provide full-frontal academic and social/emotional support with whatever you may be going through. The greatest part about tutoring and providing educational advocacy and consulting to students and families is being able to help in a time of stress and unknowing. I love seeing the smiles on students' faces when they finally have their "lightbulb" moment, in which what was once unclear is now comprehended. The work I do truly brightens up my day and I love being able to connect and undergo the learning journey with people.

I first started teaching when I began to tutor my fellow classmates back in high school. I enjoyed tutoring and I wanted to chase that feeling of learning and human connection. I started to freelance tutor more often in addition to graduating high school early to become a special education instructional paraprofessional.

I have had over four years of experience in tutoring kids of all ages, both students with or without special needs. I have tutored multiple subjects including reading, writing, math, science, history, and many more subsets within core subjects. I graduated high school six months early in 2019, and have since worked at a private special education school as an instructional paraprofessional. During my time at high school, I took High Honors courses in History, Science, and English. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA, in addition to being a straight A+ student and wrote a Senior paper on banking in education and the issues that surround it. Additionally, I was one of the 39 students selected across New Jersey to be apart of the New Jersey Scholar Program, where I attended seminars and lectures that increased my knowledge of core academic subjects. At the conclusion of the program, I wrote a paper on the paradigms of teaching in public schools of the United States and how they affect children. In the fall of 2020, I will be a student at Kean University with the intent to study special education, psychology, and pre-law.

Whenever I tutor students, I provide innovative research-based instructional strategies designed to assist in retention-span, competency, and motivation. I always have a plan written prior to our session that is designed to fully maximize our time together. Some innovative instructional strategies I introduce into our sessions are incentivization (particularly helpful for students with ADHD and ASD), the Pause Procedure (a method that provides students an opportunity to summarize and apply what they've learned through an exit-ticket or open-ended question), frequent-breaks (helps students process and temporarily decompress), and assessment through games (applying what they've learned through a fun game). Through these instructional strategies that are custom-selected to the individual, I develop a fun and successful working relationship with the student. No matter what academic or social/emotional challenge the student may be facing, I always believe in the power of learning and tapping into a student's full potential.

I tutor many types of students including those who are in elementary, middle, high school, and college. While many of these students I tutor do not have disabilities, I also have experience working with special needs students as I currently work as a special education instructional paraprofessional at a private school. I have received extensive training from headteachers at public schools and have done extensive research on best instructional methods that would best serve students, in addition to training on social/emotional factors such as shaping behavior and mental health's manifestation in and out of the classroom. The students I've worked with have had disabilities such as Autism, Oppositional Defiant Disorders/Conduct Disorders, Executive Functioning Delays, ADHD/ADD, and many more.

I would first look into what type of tutoring you would want, in addition to understanding what type of person you would like to collaborate with. I would message the teacher to discuss your exact needs in addition to what the teacher could exactly provide to you, so you not from the get-go that this experience will be something worthwhile.

I had a 13-year-old student I was recently working with who had multiple disabilities. Despite the challenges he has, I enjoyed working with him every moment and together, we were able to get his grades from D's to B+'s. I'm incredibly touched by this experience in particular because not only did this particular student have many obstacles in front of him, he never gave up and his tenacity to learn inspires me to be tenacious when it comes to tutoring.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think about what areas would you like help in, as well as what your exact goals are in order to best have the teacher understand what they can do to help you achieve your goals. Sometimes, you may not know what your exact goals or needs are which is completely fine. Even having a discussion with the prospective teacher on what you're looking for can assist you in pinpointing exactly what areas you want more support in.
