About Katherine
I have a broad spectrum of tutoring and education experience, giving me the necessary experience to tailor my tutoring strategies to each individual student.
Working at the International School of Boston, as an after school coordinator, gave me experience working with ages 3 to 6. In this position, I developed activities and projects for approximately twenty-five children, while communicating to them in both French and English.
At Suffolk University, administrators and professors chose me as a Ballotti Scholar, a leadership and tutoring position that lead to me earning a certification in the College Reading and Learning Association International Tutor Training Program. I gained hands-on experience with tutoring, while also conducting research and developing my own tutoring and educational pedagogy. I tutored in a variety of subjects, such as History and Psychology, and I specialized in Writing.
Together, the student and I will create a list of learning objectives. I will focus on the students progress as a learner and a thinker, not simply focus on project completion (although that will happen too). I am an experienced tutor, and with my help, each student will achieve success.
I got started by working in the after school program at an international preschool. I loved the energy of working around so many different students and balancing multiple projects.
I have a Bachelor's degree in English from Suffolk University, where I graduated summa cum laude. Additionally, I worked as a tutor at the college and graduate level for one year. I am certified in the International Tutor Training Program by the College Reading and Learning Association.

I take the time to get to know them as a person and a student, before delving into any assignments. Together, we talk about the students goals and we use those objectives as guidelines for all of our sessions and work that we complete together. We discuss how the specific tasks that we work on together in our sessions will help the student achieve their overarching goals.
I have worked with preschoolers, elementary and middle school students, and undergraduate and graduate students.
In all those age ranges, my students were from myriad nationalities, giving me a culturally sensitive and dynamic perspective in my tutoring and education.
I would tell that student to have an idea of what their learning objectives are prior to beginning the session, but that of course, a tutor is also happy to help you find clarity on your objectives.
