About Barbara
I am a professional journalist with a master's degree, and I was also an elementary school teacher. When I tutor students, I personalize my service to their exact needs. For instance, I tutored a young woman who had taken and failed a written exam necessary to become a teacher. She had to improve the punctuation and sentence structure in her written work, so we concentrated solely on those areas. After our tutoring sessions, she was able to pass the exam and begin her teaching career.
I enjoy getting to know my students and meeting their needs to help them accomplish their goals. I'm delighted to see each student's progress -- whether that student is a first grader needing extra coaching in math or reading -- or an adult wanting to advance in the world.
I have a master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri; K-12 teaching credentials from the University of California, Berkeley; and a bachelor's degree in history from the University of California, Riverside.
