About Gwynda
I love grammar and writing. My former students refer to me as the comma queen because of my sincere belief that commas matter. I know how to help students write a good paper, realize their potential, and know when to use a comma. If you give me the chance, I will work with you from beginning to end, start to finish, as we learn comma rules, sentence structure, and word choice. If you write fiction, I will help you workshop your paper for grammar as well as content. Remember, titles matter.
I have taught college English for over two decades. I have taught at a Georgia community college (ABAC) and in Alabama at a community college (Faulkner State). I also taught at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, NWACC in Bentonville, AR, and now at Morrilton Community College in Morrilton, AR.
If you need help mastering the art of writing, or in analyzing literature, I am here for you. Thank you for the opportunity.
I have always liked English especially the writing part. I also have always been an avid reader. Growing up in rural Arkansas, sometimes books were my only friend. I still love a good book, but more than that, I love encouraging people to enjoy reading.
Once I started school, I found that I love to write. I not only took the usual English classes in college but I also took creative writing classes. I love putting words to paper in unusual ways.
Even today, I have students who will contact me years later and ask for writing advice or editing help. I have managed to stay friends with many of my former students and enjoy seeing them succeed.
I became a TA while working on my degrees at the UofA in Fayetteville.
I have a BA and MA in English from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. My BA had a creative writing focus.

I encourage students to relax and try to ease any fears a student may have about English. I aks them to let me when something is really difficult for them. In a writing class, we start with something easy and build up to the bigger issues. In literature, I try to start with something short and fun to ease any fears they might have about reading "literature."
I have worked with high school students, non-traditional students, and students who were right out of high school.
Look for the teacher that inspires you, the one who doesn't find teaching English a chore but rather an adventure. You want a teacher/tutor who still loves to interact with students and loves the topic they teach.
My mom just celebrated her 90th birthday, and we were able to give her a birthday parade.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
She is very passionate about the subject and about teaching.
She was informative and empowering. She gave us everything we needed to succeed and she was invested in our education, long after we passed her class. She has high expectations but she gives her students every resource they need to exceed those expectations. She once told me "You have a voice, own it!" and that is still the most important piece of advice anyone has ever given me.
