About Sandra

Hi! My name is Sandra and I am teacher for 2nd and 3rd grade students with language based diffeences, specifically dyslexia. I am NY certified in general education and special education. I have my masters from Bank Street in Teaching Literacy and am working towards getting my NY certification to be a reading specialist.

This is my fourth year as a teacher and I absolutely love what I do! I am thankful that I have been able to teach mostly in person this year, but am able to to tutor virtually as well and have a lot of experience with Zoom. I believe that every child has the potenital to succeed, but every child's path of learning may look different. From my own education and teaching experiences, I find that a multisesnory approach to teaching allows for students to engage in learning in a positive and successful way. Children need to believe in themselves just like we believe in them.

B.S.E.D in Elementary Education from the University of Delaware

Masters in Teaching Liteacy from Bank Street College of Education

Trained in multisensory reading and math progreams.

Building rapport with students is critical to their success.  I believe that you can only teach the students you can reach.  I would want to set up an initial phone call with you to discuss your child's learning needs and goals. I would begin working with your child by getting to know him/her as both a person and a student and conducting some initial assessments to gain access into where they are academically.
