About Joya

Hi guys! My name is Joya, and I'm a 23 year old education major and English minor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I know, English is not the most exciting subject of all time. However, I find the beauty of grammar, storytelling, reading, and writing. I can't wait to help you see it too. I have open availability, so I hope you choose me to guide you on this journey. Let's grow together!

I am a third year college student and I spent a year being a TA.

About the lesson

I like to get to know my students first. Students are people before anything. I want to treat them as a friend first, then figure out their problem areas and work on that.

Joya is very patient and actually takes the time to explain things and break them down in a way that anyone could understand. By far my favorite tutor! I went from struggling with essays to being able to crank one out without feeling all the stress that comes with lengthy essays. I’d recommend her to everyone.

Ms. Johnson is definitely one of my favorite teachers. With distant learning, it’s hard to stay focused sometimes, or even feel like I want to participate. But I definitely think that Ms. Johnson tried her best to keep me, and the rest of the students attention. Ms. Johnson also seems to pretty passionate about things like poetry, creative writing, and general essay writing. The fact that she’s passionate about these subjects, definitely made it easier for us to learn about them. Not only writing, but things like grammar, and vocab are also stressed as being important. Overall I feel like I learned a lot, and got better at writing in general.
