About Bob
Music has been my passion and my inspiration for my entire life, and I want to ignite that same passion in your pursuit of music - no matter what level of proficiency you aspire to.
I have played music professionally for more than 40 years in styles ranging from rock to country, bluegrass to metal, as a soloist and as a band member. I play electric & acoustic guitar, bass, mandolin, keyboards, and drums.
In addition, I can do in-person teaching or lessons via Zoom or Skype.
I also have a Bachelor of Music degree in Theory & Composition. Along with many years of teaching private lessons, I have taught at the Chatham (NJ) Adult School and the Adult School of Montclair (NJ). In addition, I am owner of Rivanna Records, the label on which I release my original music.

I love to watch a student's face brighten when they "get it," when they learn something new.
As a player, I love to discover a new sound, a new song, and new way to express a musical idea.
While in college I began teaching other players and high schol and college students in guitar and composition. I continued teaching through the years, and branched out into teaching at the Adult School of Montclair and the Chtaham Adult School.
I have played since I was 10, and have played professionally since high school. I play guiar, bass, keyboards, mandolin, and drums.
I have taught privately for years and also at the Chatham Adult School and the Adult School of Montclair.
I also have a Bachelor of Music degree in Theory & Composition.

I try to find out what the student already knows, and whats kind of experience they have. Also, what kind of music does the student like? What is most likely to make them passionate about playing
I have taught students form age 10 and up, as well as adults of all levels of experience, amateur and professional. I have also taught classes up to 10.
Find someone you can easily talk to, is patient and is a good listener, who hears what you want to learn and pays attention to how you learn best, and how quickly.
An old colleague from my days managing a musical instrument store heard a song of mine, and produced an entirely new version in his home studio. It taught me that you're never too old, or too expereicned, to learn something new, even about something that you thought you knew well.
