About David
I have been in music for more than 14 years and have an associate's degree in music composition. My main instrument is the Guitar but have experience in other instruments as well. As a self taught guitarist I made many mistakes at the beginning. Because of this, I had to work extra hard in college to overcome the old habits that were holding me back from progressing my skills. Beginner students would benefit from my experience and progress at a much faster rate than I did.
Music theory is my favorite subject. I studied this topic since high school (sophomore year, 2009) and even took the same classes multiple times, including college theory classes. Theory goes hand in hand with composition so it was a natural direction for me. Lessons with me can teach you not only the instrument but the language as well.
I have given guitar lessons to a few students, mostly children and some adults. I was also a theory tutor on a scholarship for a year at my school. I helped students on fundamentals up to secondary dominants but have learned up to atonal theory.
Music is my go-to when life gets hectic and over-bearing. It provides me with comfort, relief, and a refreshing energy. Whether I'm playing my guitar, writing a new piece, or recording something, I am at peace. There is no better experience than music, no matter what area I am working with. I think everyone should experience this feeling, whatever the interest may be. Obviously, the common ground here is music and I love sharing my knowledge with newcomers. It provides the same sensation as performing or writing, etc.
