I have always loved teaching, and done it both in volunteer form for various programs that work with underserved communtities, as well as in my professional work. I have served as grader and mentor at the collegiate level.
I find discovering new ways to explain the essential topics exciting.
In my own career, I studied to a 36 ACT and 800 Math II SAT Subject test. I was an International Baccalaureate programme diploma student at the HS level, and I have tutored high school students in every aspect of college applications work (testing and essays) as well as mathematics.
As an MIT senior in Aerospace Engineering, I regularly encounter problems involving physics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, and science. I write technically in multiple research projects and across several classes, as well as writing in the humanities for a concentration in Asian and Asian Diaspora studies.

After we connect and schedule a first session, I will ask a client to describe why they are seeking tutoring.
The key is understanding a client's critical support regions, which I determine either by past scores or score reports for standardized tests, grade histories (however much a client would like to give), and their own assessment of regions where they'd like to improve.
With this information, I'll develop a specific personalized plan, as well as options for different numbers of sessions, and in our first session the client and I will set our goals in the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achieveable, Relevant, Time-Bound) framework. At the end of the session, a client will leave with BOTH a clear goal for what will come next AND options for how to work towards them to achieve them, with my recommendation.
These consultations are only half-time (30 minutes), and I charge less than half my standard rate ($60/hr, $25/half)
I work with mainly high school students, although I have worked with middle school students as well.
I have helped student-athletes, academic bowl competitors, science fair competitors, and applicants to a variety of different universities.
I am proud that one of my ACT students, after scoring a 22 on her first practice exam, scored a 31 on her official test. As a student-athlete this score surpassed what she had been asked to score by the school, and made her profile competitive as an athlete even at some Ivies.

Details
For ACT or SAT or Subject Test prep, or tutoring in specific classes, my individual rate is $60/hour and $25/thirty minute consultations.
For group sessions, I can tutor up to 3 students, at the following rates: $70/2, $75/3.
For college essays, my rate is $70/hour, for the extra time careful edits and recommended revisions require. I only offer individual sessions for these.
